WE ARE WINNING THE RICH FOOD REVOLUTION: COSTCO CUTS ANTIBIOTICS FROM MEAT PRODUCTS.

We told you last week about McDonald's cutting antibiotics from their chicken and Nestlé going non-GMO in their chocolates, and now Costco announced that it will phase out antibiotics from its meat and poultry. The USDA is not protecting us from antibiotics- they are failing us. However, we are making changes because we are demanding higher quality Rich Foods. MIT SCIENTIST PROCLAIMED THAT, “by 2025 one in two children will be autistic.”

Researcher blames a chemical used in Roundup [glyphosate], a popular herbicide used on GMO crops, for rise in autism. Are popular products such as breads, cereals, and cooking oil putting you at risk? Research shows that Americans have 10 times the amount of glyphosate accumulation in their urine compared to Europeans. IS MCDONALD'S REALLY JOINING THE RICH FOOD REVOLUTION?

Great news, from now on McDonald’s will only be serving milk that only comes from cows NOT treated with a synthetic growth hormone called recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH). Why is this important to you? Cows treated with rBGH produce milk with higher levels of a growth hormone IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor), a hormone that has been linked to breast, colon, and prostrate cancers. As we pointed out in Rich Food, Poor Food, rBGH’s function is to boost milk production, but is harmful to the cows, and is banned in several countries. A study published in Scientific Reports reports that treatment with resveratrol (a compound found in the skin of red grapes) has benefits in terms of learning, memory and mood function. Resveratrol has also been widely touted for its potential to prevent heart disease. Read more here. 

ANOTHER REASON TO LOOK FOR WILD CAUGHT SEAFOOD. 

Chinese aqua farmers are using feces to feed farmed fish and are shipping it over to the US. Feces, the director of the University of Georgia’s Center for Food Safety says, “is frequently contaminated with microbes like salmonella.” With 27 percent of the seafood Americans eat coming from China, should we be concerned?
